Strapless Kitesurfing – How to do a foot change for a tack and Gybe – Training – The Kitesurf Centre
Here we breakdown the key components to the foot change for a tack and gybe, these are things which we can practice at home without a kite so perfect for lockdown.
We work on keeping the board flat throughout the transitions
A quick single movement rather than lots of small movements
Starting and ending the board pointing riding across the wind.
With the Gybe the foot change can be done before or after the carve turn and so the board direction does not change at the same time as your feet.
With a tack your board and feet move in opposite directions.
We have a whole range of surfboard available from beginner to advanced here:
This is also useful if you want to get into foil boarding as we use the same techniques in the tack and gybe, you just have to be even more accurate with your planing angle.
