Offshore Fishing Boats to Handle the Open Water
Offshore fishing boats are designed to safely endure the severity of the open ocean while providing a platform for searching out larger fish. Many of these boats come with towers with upper control stations for sight-fishing. Generally, offshore fishing boats have at least one live baitwell, tackle centers, bait prep centers, fish boxes for safely storing the day’s catch, rod holders both for storage and strategically placed for trolling, and higher gunwales to keep passengers safely on board. Most will have extensive electronics for fish finding, navigation, marking hot spots, and monitoring systems including propulsion systems.

Offshore Fishing Boats
The best choice for fishing in a variety of weather conditions and waters are offshore boats that are designed to manage most sea states. These boats are designed with characteristics that create a smoother and dryer ride. Most offshore boats are designed to run at 30-knots or more to facilitate getting to the fish quickly with center consoles and large cockpits for fish fighting, a helm deck at midships, and a forward cabin area.

Center Console Offshore Fishing Boats
The most popular style of offshore fishing boats are designed as center console boats. System controls are mounted on a console that is near mid ship allowing for you to navigate around all sides of the boat even while reeling in a fish. Larger center console boats feature full cabins with options for air conditioning, galley, and entertainment centers allowing owners to utilize their boats for long distance trips. Many center console boats have side doors to help when catching larger fish and can be used for swimming or diving with a boarding ladder. These boats can seat up to 7 passengers and range in size from 18 to 65-feet.

Dual Console Offshore Fishing Boats
Dual console fishing boats have companion consoles on opposite sides with a walkthrough windshield. To some, a dual console offshore fishing boat makes it more comfortable, versatile and family friendly. Most have more comfort features but still have all the fishing amenities that offshore fishing enthusiasts come to expect. A dual console fishing boat can range in length from just under 25-feet to nearly 40-feet. These boats can come equipped with a wet bar, forward seating area, center tables for dining, and bench seating to accommodate additional passengers. Other models can also provide optional sun pads, air conditioning, galley, berths and entertainment centers. This allows owners to utilize their boats for more comfort while offshore or for cruising adventures discovering new destinations.

Open Offshore Fishing Boats
Open offshore fishing boats have an open cockpit with a mid-ship raised deck and an enclosed cabin. They range from just under 30-feet in length to over 40-feet. The helm deck is surrounded by a wraparound windshield and has a hardtop often with an upper helm station above the hardtop. There is companion seating on the helm deck often with a table for dining. Some larger open offshore fishing boats have mezzanine seating for fishing observation and can feature full cabins with options for air conditioning, galley, berths and entertainment centers. Larger offshore fishing boats have private rooms and convertible lounge seating in the salon sleeping four or more allowing owners to utilize their boats for long distance trips or for simply cruising to distant destinations.
